Artist Statement
Passionate humanitarian, avid reader, and dedicated daydreamer are just a few phrases thataccurately describe my character. With an appreciation for learning and knowledge, my interests range in an array of categories such as: culture and anthropology, fine arts, history, design research and methodology, psychology, music, film, literature, among other branches of learning. Although I am concerned each of those subjects in their respective disciplines, I endeavor to create art that embodies each category cohesively. With inuences ranging from semiotic anthropology to a strong base of design and research methodology, my research creates a dialogue on the formation of the most vital aspect of any culture, language and its integration in human interaction. With every person I come in contact with, with every project I am presented with, I use it as an opportunity to create a dialogue and highlight the need for the understanding of language within society.
I am for an art whose passion sparks a voice that reawakens light into the darkest crevices of this world. I am for an art that speaks for those who do not have a voice in society; one that raises awareness of those in desolate and lost places and gives them hope that there is an end in sight. I want to create something that will bring a moment of clarity in this chaotic world, even if only for a moment. Inuenced by cultural studies of anthropology, sociology, and linguistics, my intention is not only to create pieces of artwork, but also to understand how culture and human behavior interact in society. Language and human’s ability to communicate are essential as a means for human connection and interaction in a society. Through the use of typographical elements within a multimedia and graphic medium, my aim is to create a cohesive body of work that explores semiotic anthropology. Innovation, creativity, and most importantly, research and knowledge are essential instruments in my personal design methodology. I am not only an artist- I am a creator, and I am a visual researcher and innovator.
